인간이란 존재는 시간의 함수이다. 그럼 점에서 인간은 ‘호모 템포랄리스’라고 규정할 수 있다. 인간은 시간을 의식하지 않아도 되는 행복한 유년기를 통과하면 시간과의 관계를 스스로 정립하고 살아야 한다는 숙명적인 짐을 짊어진다. 이 교과목은 인간과 시간의 관계정립을 향한 노력이야말로 시간의 함수인 인간이 스스로 행복을 찾을 수 있는 길이라는 점을 강조한다. 그리하여 그러한 인간의 시간 경험을 동서고금의 철학, 문학, 예술 작품 속에서, 특별히 그 역사적이고 사회적인 맥락을 고려하면서 살펴보고자 한다.
교과목해설(영문)
Human being is a function of time. In that respect, human beings can be defined as 'Homo Temporalis'. Human beings carry a fateful burden to establish their own relationship with time when they pass a happy childhood that does not have to be conscious of time. This course emphasizes that efforts toward the establishment of a relationship between human beings and time is a way for humans to find their own happiness. Thus, we want to examine such human time experiences in the philosophy, literature and artistic works of East and West Korea, especially considering its historical and social context.
