인간학은 인간의 본성과 가능성에 대한 탐구로 철학, 역사학, 문학 등의 분야에 속한다. 지금까지 인간은 자신을 한편으로 신과의 비교를 통해, 다른 한편으로 동물, 기계와의 비교를 통해 정의해왔다. 오늘날 정보기술과 생명공학의 발달로 인간과 닮았을 뿐 아니라 인간보다 뛰어난 인공지능, 복제인간의 창조가 현실적인 가능성으로 다가오면서 인간과 신, 인간과 기계의 경계가 모호해졌다. 휴머노이드, 사이보그, 복제인간 같은 새로운 인간, 포스트휴먼의 시대가 도래하고 있는 것이다. 본 강의에서는 포스트휴먼의 도래에 직면해 소설과 사이언스 픽션영화를 출발점으로 이성/감정, 영혼/육체, 사랑/성, 자유, 노동, 기술, 기억, 죽음, 자연/인공, 인간의 존엄성 등 핵심적인 인간학적 개념에 대해서 함께 성찰해 볼 것이다.
교과목해설(영문)
Anthropology explores human nature and belongs to the fields of philosophy, history, literature. Human beings have so far defined themselves through comparison with God on the one hand, and with animals and machines on the other. With the development of information technology and biotechnology today, the boundaries between human beings and machines have become blurred as the the creation of artificial intelligence and cloned human beings comes to realistic possibility. Post-human era is coming. In this lecture we will reflect in confrontation with the post-human era on anthropological concepts as soul / body, love / sex, freedom, labor, technology, memory, death, natural / artificial.
